Workshops and Sessions > Formats of Proposals

Focusing on the conference theme, the Swiss Sociological Congress 2026 invites sociologists and members of related disciplines to contribute to these debates and beyond. We welcome proposals for semi-plenary sessions and workshops from theoretical, methodological, empirical, and transdisciplinary perspectives.

Other contributions relevant to the research networks of the Swiss Sociological Association are also welcome.

Languages: Sessions can be held in German, French, and English.

Formats and Submission of Proposals

Semi-plenary sessions (max. 3 speakers)

Proposal (by 15 December 2025):

  • Title and abstract (max. 6,000 characters)
  • 3–4 keywords
  • Presentation titles and speaker names (3 speakers maximum)
  • Institutional affiliation of the session organisers

If accepted, organisers will submit the complete session programme by 30 April 2026.

Submission link will be published on 1 November 2025.

Workshop sessions

Proposal (by 15 November 2025):

  • Title and abstract (max. 2,000 characters) — this abstract serves as the call for workshop contributions
  • 3–4 keywords
  • Organisers’ affiliation and contact information

If accepted, organisers will submit the complete workshop programme by 30 April 2026.

Submission link will be published on 1 November 2025.

We also encourage innovative, original formats within the limits of logistical possibilities.

To avoid fragmenting the conference into too many small-group sessions, the organisers suggest that each research committee submit two to three workshop proposals.
